Its core function is to achieve energy storage, filtering, choking, signal coupling, and high-frequency interference suppression based on the principle of electromagnetic induction, making it one of the fundamental components enabling device miniaturization and high-density layout in electronic systems. Among the various types, wire-wound and multilayer chip inductors are the most commonly used: wire-wound chip inductors are made by winding insulated copper wire around a magnetic core, offering a wide inductance range, high precision, and high Q factor, making them suitable for low-to-medium frequency and high-power applications; multilayer chip inductors are manufactured using multilayer printing and lamination processes, featuring smaller size and good magnetic shielding, making them ideal for high-frequency and miniaturized applications; thin-film chip inductors are suitable for microwave frequency bands, offering high Q factor and high precision.
