A low voltage track lighting transformer safely converts standard 110 V or 220 V AC mains electricity into the low voltage required for track lighting equipment, typically 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V AC or DC. It supplies power to track lighting fixtures such as track spotlights, track LED strips, and adjustable track lights. Designed for direct integration with the track system, this transformer offers a combination of safety, stability, and flexibility. As a core power supply component in both residential and commercial track lighting systems, it is generally available in two common types: low-frequency transformers using silicon steel laminations and high-frequency transformers using ferrite cores.

Silicon Steel Low Frequency Transformers: Sturdy and durable with long service life, strong overload resistance and stable output waveform. However, at the same power rating, their volume is more than twice that of ferrite high-frequency transformers.

Q: What should be noted in the design of low-voltage track lighting transformers?
A: A sufficient power margin shall be reserved during design; the rated power shall not be exactly matched. Generally, it should be 1.2 times the rated power (to avoid full-load operation of the transformer, which may cause unstable lighting, power failure or potential hazards).
For harsh working environments, epoxy resin potting and encapsulation can be adopted to improve the stability and service life of the transformer.
